The book ONTBIJT (BREAKFAST) by culinary journalist Mara Grimm has been named the best breakfast book in the world at the Oscars of cookbooks: the Annual Gourmand Awards Ceremony in China.

In Grimm’s book, alongside delicious and worldly recipes, you’ll find everything about the history of breakfast (. Like this breakfast burrito, breakfast pizza and these Turkish eggs. The historical information, such as Beethoven’s favorite coffee, never gets boring. Above all, the jury considers it a cheerful book about the most important meal in the world.

Annual Gourmand World Cookbook Awards

The Annual Gourmand World Cookbook Awards are the ultimate prize in the international cookbook world. Entries have been submitted from more than 200 countries since 1995.

The second prize in the ‘breakfast’ category went to Little Tables from New Zealand, while third place went to At the Table by American food historian Ken Albala.
