Michelin stars 2021: these winners have accidentally already been announced

Michelin sterren

Monday 29 March 2021 was supposed to be the moment when top restaurants would spend the time before the live stream biting their nails: would they keep their star or be allowed to add another one to their name? But this morning, the news accidentally appeared in Michelin’s new app. Oops…

The announcement came as a total surprise to chefs. The full overview has not been leaked, but it is already known prematurely who the winners of the 2021 Michelin stars are.

Two restaurants with two stars

The Netherlands has two new two-star restaurants: Restaurant 212 in Amsterdam and Brut 172 in Reijmerstok. Daalder (last week we ate the fantastic menu ‘At home with Daalder‘) and Meliefste finally also received the star that has been speculated about for so long. ‘It’s fantastic news, but a huge disappointment that I had to hear it via a message. My phone exploded and I thought: what’s going on?’, Thijs Meliefste told Misset Horeca. And quite rightly so: Zeezout in Rotterdam, my favourite fish restaurant, now has a star too!

Wils now has a star too — another success for chef Joris Bijdendijk.
