Mooirivier goes wild

Sometimes you come across a place so beautiful that you want to shout it from the rooftops. Mooirivier in Dalfsen is one of those places. We already couldn’t stay away in summer, but it’s also wonderful here when it’s cold. At the hotel right next to the Overijsselse Vecht, you can enjoy the Into The Wild package in the coming weeks. We went to try it out in advance.

Wild through and through

During this city escape, everything is entirely centred around game. Chef Arjen Bonder serves a four-course menu featuring duck, venison and mushrooms, matched with winter vegetables such as parsnip, celeriac and Brussels sprouts. Delicious! Be sure to add the wine pairing, featuring the most delightful wines. Our favourite: the full-bodied Killibinbin Sneaky Shiraz from South Australia.  

A cheese board to die for

Be sure to save room for dessert, because it is a special trio of mandarin, speculaas and pumpkin. Would we like to finish the evening with a cheese board? Yes, please! And we do so in the hotel lobby, beside the crackling fireplace. Rosy-cheeked, we settle in comfortably.

The ultimate winter experience

The fact that after the last sip we can almost literally roll to our bed makes it all even more fun (uh, hello, king-size bed!). Strangely enough, the next morning we are as hungry as bears and attack the extensive breakfast buffet, with the crispiest bacon ever. During a walk through nature, our city minds completely unwind. In short, a top weekend.
