New food market hall in Rotterdam

Rotterdam has gained another food market. In addition to the Markthal and Fenix Food Factory, Marché010 will also open its doors to the general public on Saturday, September 2.

From Turkish butcher to Dutch cheesemonger
With this ‘no-nonsense market’ in the trendy ZoHo district (Zomerhofkwartier) in Rotterdam-Noord, initiator Hakim Farkouchi wants to provide more space for food entrepreneurs from this part of the city. Diversity is the key word here: both in products and cultures.

The market consists of stalls selling fruit and vegetables, surrounded by various units including a Moroccan fishmonger (Vishandel Marot) and baker (Meziane Bakery), Turkish butcher (Mevlana) and nut and fruit shop (Beybun Nuts & More), Dutch cheesemonger (Kaas bij Sijens) and Indonesian toko (Rami Indonesian Food).

An experience and a place to shop
Marché010 is located in an old metalworking facility and, in terms of its range and appearance, is somewhat of a mix between the tourist attraction Markthal and the artisanal Fenix Food Factory.

You can go there for fresh groceries, but also for a bite to eat and a drink. The range is broad, accessible and affordable, resembling that of an ordinary market, but with more attention paid to the overall experience.

The entrepreneurs already had a trial run at Marché010 last week, but from this weekend onwards, ‘Rotterdam’s covered market’ will be open seven days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
