New in 020: Vegan sushi at OKO

Plantbased Sushi Amsterdam, the brainchild of Claudia Deken, has now permanently settled into OKO in Amsterdam’s Bos en Lommer neighborhood after a period of successful pop-ups. Good news for everyone who likes to eat plant-based and deserves better than some pathetic carrot or cucumber roll. In Deken’s words: say no to cucumber maki. And yes to these colorful vegan creations!

OKO itself is a Cultural Melting Point; a place that hosts exhibitions, yoga classes, guest speakers and discussions, and where you can mainly go during the day for good coffee, sweets and lunch. Now vegan sushi has also been added in the evenings, available every evening they’re open except Tuesday. How about the Pinky Winky roll: bright beetroot-pink rice with caramelized onion and sweet-and-sour tempeh, plus more inventive gems of that kind.

So, everyone who loves irresistibly soft, sticky sushi rice, the umami crunch of nori and an array of beautiful toppings and fillings: hurry to Amsterdam West!
