New in town: NENI’s summery terrace (and yes, you’ll want to sit there!)
Restaurant NENI, known for the most delicious Tel Aviv-style cuisine, is bringing the Mediterranean to Amsterdam-Zuid with its new terrace. And you’ll want to come here just for the new Mezze & Pizza concept!
NENI, located in the former Citroën garage near the Olympic Stadium, is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. Ever since it opened, I’ve had a serious crush on this place, because I love everything that comes out of this kitchen. A table full of little bowls and plates featuring the most delicious dishes from the Middle East (more specifically: Eastern Mediterranean cuisine); wonderful! And now there’s a summer terrace where you can relax all afternoon until late at night.
Sun, sun everywhere
The terrace is in a great location; the sun is out all day long—from your first drink to the last glass of wine before it sets. So whether you’re staying home this summer or want to extend that holiday feeling: on this terrace, you’ll really feel like you’re abroad for a while. The eyecatcher on the terrace is the striking yellow container. This is where the most delicious summer cocktails are prepared, including three different sangrias, the Sunny Mary with gazpacho, and the non-alcoholic Coconut Chai. Be sure to try the sangria with cava. Bet you won’t be able to stop at just one?

Popcorn falafel?!
The menu features various mezze that you can order between 3:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., including chicken bites (with mango aioli—absolutely delicious!), fried cauliflower with tahini, sumac and fresh oregano) and labaneh.

Be sure to order the popcorn falafel with NENI’s famous tahini-ginger sauce, too. Everyone who has ever eaten falafel at NENI agrees: this is the queen of falafel: flavorful, airy and perfectly fried (and psssst… here is the popcorn falafel recipe, which contains actual popcorn as well as corn!). Every dish looks absolutely delicious—and tastes that way, too.
Focaccia pizzas
In addition to the familiar NENI dishes, the terrace also serves the new Mezze & Pizza. concept (between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.). It’s all about enjoying food together, so be sure to order the focaccia pizzas alongside the mezze. The pizzas come in two varieties: the vegetarian sabich pizza, with fried eggplant, and the roast beef pizza with entrecote and dried figs. Both pizzas are generous and unbelievably delicious! Weather permitting, NENI’s terrace is open from noon until midnight. The Mezze & Pizza menu can be ordered for a minimum of 2 people at €22.50 per person.
