You were already going to MoMa, weren’t you? For that much-needed touch of culture on your food trip. But the highly acclaimed, two-starred à la carte museum restaurant The Modern may be just a little beyond your budget.
Terrace 5 on the fifth floor is much more affordable.
Those who arrive first get a seat on the covered terrace five floors up, with a view of the sculpture garden.
The à la carte, seasonally inspired menu includes, for example, beef short rib with mushrooms and ciabatta for around 15 dollars (excl. tax). And parmesan custard with broccolini, bell pepper and market vegetables. There are also cocktails, wine, microbrewed beers and lemonades on the side. Exactly what you need for lunch.
In line
Make sure you’re at the barrier at eleven sharp , because the line grows incredibly quickly. And only those who arrive first get a seat by the glass railing on the terrace with a view of the sculpture garden. Especially nice when rain is pouring from the New York sky but can’t reach you.
