Obama’s presidency is almost over, but before that happens, the president and his wife are hosting one last dinner.

Mario Batali – a famous chef and fan of ‘Let’s Move’, Michelle Obama’s initiative – will prepare dinner for 500 guests. Naturally, he is enormously proud of that, Batali says in this article.

Italian classics

The final dinner will be far from adventurous. Batali has chosen to avoid Italian classics such as ‘trippa’ (a stew with organ meat) and pig’s trotters. Instead, simple Italian dishes that the guests will recognize will be served. But each dish will also contain a surprising element.

Lavish meal

In addition to Batali’s dishes, various canapés are also on the menu. These will be prepared by the White House’s regular kitchen brigade, and all the ingredients will come from its own vegetable garden. Dessert, a huge creation consisting of 44 different cakes with an autumn theme, consists mainly of pumpkin and dark chocolate.

The dinner will take place on Tuesday, October 18.
