OH NO: Jumbo recalls sliced cheese, check your fridge
Cheese on your sandwich, cheese on your toastie, cheese with drinks… But plastic on your cheese? No, thank you. Jumbo is warning about hard plastic particles in five different types of sliced cheese and is recalling them immediately.
Did you know that the average Dutch person eats around 20 kilos of cheese a year? That’s quite a few slices – so it’s definitely no luxury that Jumbo is taking swift action. The supermarket is asking customers not to eat the products concerned, but to return them to the store. You’ll simply get your money back, even if you lost the receipt ages ago (as usually happens with cheese packages).
Why this recall?
Hard plastic may have ended up in the packaging, which could pose health risks. In other words: a bite of your young matured cheese toastie could suddenly end with a crunch at the dentist. Jumbo calls it a precautionary measure, but stresses that these products must not be consumed.

What should you do?
Do you have one of these cheeses in your fridge? Don’t eat it. Return it to the store and receive a refund of your purchase price. Forgot the receipt? No problem – Jumbo will sort it out without any discussion.
