On a budget: De Pasta Kantine

In this cold weather, nothing beats a big plate of fresh, steaming pasta. And if you don’t have to spend the evening in the kitchen after an exhausting workday, while it’s also wonderfully affordable, then FavorFlav’s editorial team is sold. We’re talking about De Pasta Kantine: a budget Italian restaurant with three locations in The Hague, Rotterdam and Breda.

Value for money

It can be very chaotic because of the crowds (sometimes even a little too chaotic), but during the week it’s usually perfectly manageable. Don’t expect top-notch service or stunning starters and desserts to round off your evening, but simply good pasta at a great price. Fast food deluxe, in other words: grab a quick bite and then head home. From that perspective, the value for money is good. And can’t you finish everything? They’ll pack up the leftovers for you without any problem. After six episodes of Stranger Things, you’ll probably be hungry again. Though of course, you can also opt for take away right away. All the sooner you’ll be home on the sofa.

How much does it cost?

At De Pasta Kantine, all pasta dishes cost around or under 10 euros, and you can choose between a large or small portion. At the Breda location, we went for the large portions of orecchiette with rosemary sausage and tagliatelle with braised duck leg. Absolutely delicious, and including two beers, we paid less than 30 euros. Within 45 minutes, we were completely stuffed and back outside without a doggy bag.
