At Vleesch Nog Visch in Amsterdam, you can enjoy an amazing pita gyros without even noticing that you’re not actually eating meat at all.

Vegetarian meat

The ‘meat’ is made from soy, but has the taste and texture of thinly sliced lamb. And honestly, if you don’t know, you won’t taste the difference. As passionate meat eaters, we’re sometimes a little sceptical about soy-based ‘meat’, but Vleesch Nog Visch has completely won us over.

Homemade

The ‘meat’  is deliciously seasoned and all the components are fresh and homemade. The pita is perfectly baked and deliciously salty, and the tzatziki flows generously. They started out as a food truck, which you have almost certainly passed by at a food festival. But these days, you can get your gyros fix every day at a permanent location in Amsterdam West.

At festivals, they only sell the Greek pita gyros. At the kiosk, you can also choose the Pita Tikka Masala with crunchy carrot, pickled red onion, coriander and mint, or the Pita Mi Gado. The latter is Indonesian, with satay sauce, pointed cabbage, sweet and sour sauce, and a coconut-peanut topping.
