Having lunch, snacking, drinking, eating, dancing, laughing, chatting. Atelier is a new creative concept on the Schinkel business park in Amsterdam, and the website says it is ‘always on’. The owners are setting the bar high right from the start. The converted old car wash is intended to become a creative space for dreams, projects, parties and dishes.

The owners are Rinze Hetterscheid and Christiaan Bauduin. Bauduin has a background in advertising, and it shows, because Atelier’s entire look and feel is rock-solid. From the menu and interior to Instagram and the website, everything is infused with color blocking and the same bold house style. Also handy for taking a break from work: there is a ping-pong table in the restaurant-cum-workspace.

The small menu features simple dishes. To start, for example, you can order a salad with lentils or burrata. For the main course, there is pumpkin ravioli, guinea fowl, a substantial cut of beef and sea bream. The drinks menu features Monsieur Croquettes croquettes, spreads, oysters and fried fish.

Atelier is open from Monday through Sunday. On weekdays from 11:00 to 01:00, Friday and Saturday from 11:00 to 03:00, and Sunday from 12:00 to 01:00. In spring, the venue will be expanded with a terrace.
