Our favorite cava now also comes in an Ice and alcohol-free version

Some people are horrified by it, while others don’t want to be seen with anything else on hot days. Champagne with ice: you love it or hate it. For lovers of ice-cold bubbles, there is now also cava on the rocks.

Moët was the first to decide to add ice to their (sweet) champagne. They drew inspiration from the Côte te d’Azur. There, ordering a ‘Piscine’—a sparkling wine with ice cubes—was the most ordinary thing in the world. In the beginning, people in Champagne were scandalized. Because ice in their noble drink was totally not done. By now, Moët Ice Impérial has become très arrivée.
And now Ice Cava is also available.
Deliciously fruity
Although cava used to be called champan and is still referred to as Spanish champagne, legally speaking, that is not allowed. Only sparkling wine from the French wine region of Champagne may be called that. Spanish sparkling wine is not champagne either. The subtle mousse and yeasty aroma may resemble those of its French counterpart, but the soil, warm climate and cava grapes xarel.lo, macabeo and parellada give the wine a character of its own. Cava is generally fruitier and has slightly less acidity than champagne.
Strawberries or ginger
MVSA ICE Seco is a sweet-style cava that pairs well with spicy food and has no trouble handling a little fat either. For a fruit explosion, add some strawberries. A slightly fresher variation? Add mint leaves and lime zest. For a kick: ginger.
