Paying for G&Ts with a cucumber?

You read that right: paying with a cucumber. On 14 and 15 June, you can do so at De Marktkantine. Or rather… De Komkommerkantine. On these days, the Amsterdam club accepts cucumbers as valid payment. A cucumber is currently estimated to be worth one Hendrick’s gin and tonic.

The promotion has been organised to mark World Cucumber Day. Cucumbers are not only used as a means of payment; gin and tonics are also garnished with a slice, and many dishes will be prepared with the vegetable. The pop-up bar is also flying in ‘renowned cucumber entertainment’. Of course, we’re very curious to know what that means…
