I think we can all agree that face masks are anything but comfortable. They’re hot, itchy and irritating. But they help us protect one another, so we wear them. Luckily, in the Netherlands we don’t have to wear them in cafés and restaurants. In the United States, however, we do. And that produces some hilarious signs.
We recently wrote about the Starbucks barista who received a €90,000 tip because he refused to serve a woman without a face mask. Before he could explain why, she was already furious. And he wasn’t the only one. Some places even receive hate mail. All because they follow the rules. Bizarre.
That’s why some bars and restaurants let a sign do the talking for them. That way, they don’t have to keep explaining it themselves or get into arguments. And since nothing drives a message home quite like a bit of humor, we’ve collected the funniest ones here:
