Plant FWD Week 2025: sustainable restaurant week full of plant-based flavors

Korean Fried Cauliflower

After a successful first edition, the sustainable restaurant week Plant FWD Week is back in Amsterdam. From April 5 to 12, 2025, nearly 100 restaurants will serve plant-based specials and sustainable menus for an entire week. And that’s not all: with culinary workshops, collab dinners and surprising events, this is set to be a week to savor.

Whether you’re dining at a top restaurant or your favorite neighborhood bistro, you can enjoy a surprising, accessible and delicious plant-forward menu at participating restaurants during Plant FWD Week.

From vegetable lovers to meat lovers: everyone joins in

During Plant FWD Week, it’s not only green pioneers such as De Kas, Madre and Morris & Bella putting their best plant-based foot forward. Iconic names such as BAUT, Ron Gastrobar and even Cannibale Royale (known for their meat dishes!) will also serve plant-based creations. During a preview, I ended up at French-Greek Massalia in Amsterdam-Oost, run by chef and entrepreneur Angelo, who was part of Ottolenghi’s kitchen for years. I had an incredible fava bean purée with vegetables there. Another personal recommendation is Veganees (also in Amsterdam-Oost, on Wibautstraat), known for its Crispy Korean Fried Cauliflower—with gochujang!—which is truly to die for. According to connoisseurs, it may well be the best vegan restaurant in Amsterdam.

Plant FWD specials & events you don’t want to miss

This year, the week is buzzing with events that bring gastronomy and sustainability together:

  • April 11 – Cooking workshop with Nadia Zerouali @ Couscousbar: Learn how cuisines around the world have been cooking plant-based for centuries
