Ready-made 2.0

In America, producers are now trying to sell their freeze-dried meals to millennials with busy lives. Because they have a shelf life extending all the way to 2020, you won’t have to go grocery shopping for the next few months.

Freeze-drying removes all the moisture from the food. As a result, the texture changes more than with other preservation methods, such as canning or freezing. The advantage, however, is that the nutritional value and flavor remain intact. Because freeze-dried food is so light, it is convenient to take along on camping trips or store as an emergency supply.
Where’s the apocalypse?
Since the long-awaited apocalypse has yet to arrive, producers of this unusual food are now trying to appeal to a new group of consumers: people with demanding jobs who want to eat something nutritious quickly and effortlessly. By developing freeze-dried products that are gluten-free and organic, they hope to achieve this.

A truckload of calories
Still, you shouldn’t eat these meals every day, because they contain a truckload of calories and salt. Handy if you have to survive in the wilderness, but not really recommended during your daily office job.
Want to try them? You can buy them at outdoor and camping stores.
