Recipe: Spicy prawns with chorizo from the Airfryer

According to many people, an Airfryer is the ideal kitchen assistant, but FavorFlav’s Rick has his doubts. He has no idea what he should make in it. Bas Robben to the rescue! In his book Masterclass – Airfryer Bas shares over 50 of his favorite recipes. From the most delicious rum cake with walnut-coconut topping to a sweet potato tarte tatin. And Rick? He gets to work with this recipe for spicy prawns with chorizo.

Not that Rick is the ‘culinary snob’ type, for whom the Airfryer – the most popular new kitchen appliance of the decade – often has a bad image. We wonder whether those culinary snobs will still be so sour after eating these prawns with chorizo, because as Rick can now confirm: they are to-die-for. Fire up that air fryer, because we’re sharing the recipe and they’ll be ready in no time!
How to make spicy prawns with chorizo
- Mix the prawns with the olive oil, brown sugar (which helps them brown better), cayenne pepper, paprika and onion powder in a bowl. Mix in the chorizo cubes as well.
- Line the Airfryer basket with baking paper and make sure the paper comes up along the edge (or use a baking tin/ovenproof dish).
- Place the marinated prawns on top.
- Cook the prawns for 10 minutes at 200 °C.
- Meanwhile, finely chop the parsley.
- Spoon the prawns and chorizo into a serving dish and sprinkle with the finely chopped parsley.
