Recipe: the Elvis Burger, so wrong it’s right

Elvis Burger

So wrong it’s right, the Elvis Burger. Once known for his unparalleled music repertoire and film work, these days it is above all his preference for the combination of bacon, banana and peanut butter that remains his legacy. Just give it a try, and you’ll see who the real Burger King is.

How to make the Elvis Burger

  • Prepare a BBQ or grill with a cast-iron grate for direct grilling and heat it until a temperature of 200 °C is reached. Grill the slices of smoked breakfast bacon until crisp and set them aside.
  • Peel the bananas and first cut them in half lengthwise, then halve them again widthwise. Grill briefly over high heat so that attractive grill marks appear, but do not cook the banana to a mush. Remove from the grill and keep warm.
  • Mix the strawberry jam with the BBQ sauce and stir the smoked salt into the peanut butter. Cut the burger buns in half and toast the bread on the grill. Season the burgers with salt and pepper and grill on both sides until an internal temperature of 54 °C is reached for a beautiful medium-rare result. Spread a generous amount of peanut butter on the bottom half of your burger bun. Place the burger on top. Divide the bacon and grilled banana over the burgers and finish everything with the strawberry jam BBQ sauce and the tops of the burger buns.
