Shoe-shi: sushi sneakers

Sushi chef Yujia Hu also sometimes uses the sticky rice he works with every day to make crafts in his spare time. He turns it into shoe-shi: sushi shaped like sneakers in all kinds of colors and styles.

He regularly posts photos of his special rice creations on Instagram. And they certainly don’t go unnoticed. The chef—and sneaker enthusiast—works with great precision. He kneads the rice into the exact shape of the shoe and uses small pieces of nori, mango, avocado and cucumber to add logos, laces and details to his edible projects. Salmon is also a favorite ingredient to work with; it gives the shoes shine and extra color.
Sticky socks
Although the chef initially only made shoes, he now also creates other sushi garments: fish sweaters and shirts, sticky rice socks and avocado bags. Fun to see: his work keeps getting better. Curious? Then scroll through the photos on his Instagram.
