Do you absolutely love singing but are you also really good at eating? Have you always wanted to combine your talents? You can. In these four Amsterdam venues, you can enjoy delicious food and sing everyone’s ears off.

Duke of Tokyo

Duke of Tokyo is the first Japanese karaoke bar in Amsterdam. How can you tell? By the countless Japanese-inspired snacks (wild spinach with ponzu, salmon tataki, gyoza…) sakes and cocktails. You can get sake as a shot, in a glass or in a bottle. You simply have to try all the cocktails, if only for their names. How about a ‘Phil Collins’ with tequila, elderflower, shiso and Earl Grey kombucha, or a ‘Milkshake (Brings all the boys to the yard)’ with Capucana Cachaça, Campari, passion fruit, rice milk and yuzu sorbet?

The private booths accommodate 25 people and are equipped with the most modern karaoke systems, so you can really let loose.

Bar Karakter x The Bao Bar

Karakter also has private karaoke rooms, suitable for twenty golden voices. With no fewer than 2,000 songs to choose from, you’ll be entertained all evening.

Since it makes sense that after singing for several hours you’ll be tired out and hungry, Karakter is happy to help. A ‘karaoke box menu’ has been put together in collaboration with the men from Bao Buns. Starters therefore consist of dumplings, gyoza, spring rolls and crab cakes, while the main courses (to share) include Dutch mussels in XO sauce, Thai fish curry and, naturally, slow-cooked pork belly bao buns.

Café Plan West

A cozy café in the heart of De Baarsjes. Plan West has no terrace, but it does have a large folding window, so in summer you can still sit semi-outdoors. The menu features dishes such as a steak of sous-vide-cooked Irish beef with asparagus and red-wine sauce, hake with Chioggia beetroot and lime-mint sauce, or a goat cheese salad with grilled courgette. You can also have lunch here, with a choice of sandwiches made with Pain de Mer bread and topped with avocado, smoked salmon, eggs Benedict, a Philly cheesesteak…. Just try choosing. Did you know this venue is named after the development plan Berlage had for this neighborhood? Now you do. Once you’ve finished eating, you can sing a song in the basement.

Chin Chin Club

Chin Chin Club calls its food ‘confusion Chinese food’: classic Chinese dishes with a modern twist. Think: oysters with rendang foam, hoisin spare ribs, sriracha prawns with corn purée and perfect jasmine rice with furikake. FavorFlav’s Emma previously wrote an enthusiastic piece about it. You should definitely come here for karaoke too: in the basement, you can rent a private booth and sing your lungs out while enjoying fabulous cocktails. The system has more than 10,000 songs, and it can accommodate 30 people at once.
