Snackspert: this cheese soufflé with satay sauce is worth the detour

Eke Bosman, better known as Instagram phenomenon @snackspert, ate his first frikandel as a baby, hates vlammetjes, has already devoured at least 1,500 burgers in his lifetime, suspects that there is more mayonnaise in his body than blood, and shares his best and worst snack reviews on FavorFlav. This time, you’ll read how many stars Snackspert thinks the prosciutto pizza, XL cheese soufflé and Lidl’s 2-in-1 sauces are worth.

Prosciutto sourdough pizza from Crosta & Mollica

Well hello and welcome to the monthly meeting of the Crosta & Mollica fan club—just kidding, I don’t have fan clubs, but it should be clear that quite a lot of you are fans of those pizzas (especially the Stromboli) from the freezer aisle. But I have to remain critical! Because, honestly, this Imperia pizza with cooked ham, pesto and creamy garlic is the brand’s least impressive one so far. And yes, the pizza is certainly tasty and the dough is magnifique, but the cooked ham simply isn’t all that exciting. If they’d added something sweet on top, that would have given the pizza a bit more body, as they sometimes say on English-language cooking shows. Still a perfectly decent pizza, but the least impressive one, then. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Cheese soufflé from snack bar Henky Penky, Ede

The Henky Penky snack bar in Ede (yes, weird name, but the owner’s name is Henk. Henky, then—oh well) may well be one of the nicest-looking cafeterias I’ve ever visited, at least in terms of its interior. Look up this snack bar on Google after reading this and you’ll immediately know what I mean. But they really have an ama-zing souflesse there, honestly. Yes, of course they come from a wholesaler and you can undoubtedly buy the exact same souflesse in Alphen aan den Rijn, but this one was genuinely fried so well. The crispy crust was excellent, the cheese inside wonderfully melted—this cheese soufflé was so good that I found the satay sauce almost unnecessary. See? But seriously: when will they make an XXL souflesse? I always get through them so quickly. If it can be done with a frikandel, then a pe-ni—uh, cheese-soufflé enlarger should also be possible. Maybe that’s a fun challenge for our Henky from Ede. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ½

2-in-1 ketchup and mayo and 2-in-1 ketchup and mustard from Mcennedy
The great success of Zaanse mayonnaise’s mayochup obviously hasn’t gone unnoticed by the larger supermarket chains. So it makes perfect sense that Lidl would also jump on this fantastic invention. But appearances can be deceiving, because Lidl’s mayonnaise-ketchup sauce is actually a major disappointment. The ketchup-to-mayo balance is completely off here; the ketchup flavor dominates. A bit like a football match where the other team has the upper hand. Shame! ⭐️⭐️

But! But! The ketchup-and-mustard sauce, on the other hand, really is excellent. The flavors complement each other so well here. It’s actually nice that the mustard stays slightly in the background—there you go. Ideal for saucing the burger you probably messed up, but you can save it with sauce. Because sauce, dear people, sauce is always the answer. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
