So there are people who get off on being eaten (or swallowed)
Everyone has their own thing, of course, but… This really is next-level weird. It probably comes as no surprise that there’s a fetish for literally everything on Earth. In England, for example, a woman married a train station, people are in love with the Eiffel Tower, and even the Berlin Wall is in a relationship. Uh, WHAT? Yes, apparently anything goes, and they’re not hurting anyone, so fair enough. But then there’s this strange preference…
There are apparently people who find the idea of being eaten rather arousing. Vorarephilia is the name of this fetish, in which people become aroused by watching humans or animals being eaten alive, usually in one go. Their biggest fantasy is therefore to be eaten alive themselves. Sick, right? And an incredibly impractical wish too, since it’s highly illegal to eat each other. Yes, even with consent.
So how does that work?
Out of morbid curiosity, I looked into this a little, because what exactly is vorarephilia? Within this fetish, there is a Predator, Observer and Prey. Those titles speak for themselves: you have the eater, the spectator and the person being eaten. Some people with vorarephilia only wish to be swallowed, while others prefer to be chewed as well.
My morbid curiosity was shared by LADBible, which spoke to three people with this condition. Heterosexual, bisexual and homosexual, and from different backgrounds. But they do have one thing in common: their fascination with being eaten began at a young age.
“I wanted to be eaten by my teacher”
A 17-year-old boy from the United Kingdom says: “I still remember wanting to be eaten by my primary-school teacher. It wasn’t until I got older and saw various drawings about it that it became something sexual.”
Does it all sound a little far removed from your world? That’s likely, and thankfully that’s also the case for me. But—and this is a big BUT—for people with vorarephilia, it’s also far removed from their reality. They only have this wish and have no intention whatsoever of actually acting on it. Whether they see themselves as Predator, Observer or Prey, it remains pure fantasy. Because if you do cross that line, it’s outright cannibalism, and that’s genuinely grim.
The three people interviewed by LADBible agree. Sometimes they’re happy with their unusual preference; sometimes they see it as an obstacle and wish they were aroused by something else. But hey, they’re not really hurting anyone with it, of course. Live and let live, I’d say.
