Spectacle on your plate: Le Petit Chef dinner show is genuinely fun and genuinely delicious

Last night I attended the premiere of Le Petit Chef in Amsterdam. For those unfamiliar with Le Petit Chef: this is a dinner show in which 3D cinema takes center stage. Not on the big screen, but on your plate (and on the table) at Brasserie De Roode Leeuw in Amsterdam. Highly recommended!

Le Petit Chef
The story of Le Petit Chef is the battle for the golden chef’s hat between the little French chef and his Spanish, Italian and Japanese competitors. During dinner, they all cook a dish that is projected onto your plate through a humorous 3D experience. And the fun part: these dishes are also served in real life. Even better: the dishes are genuinely delicious!

Worldly dishes
We had a delicious Spanish salad with marinated tomatoes, Spanish ham and chorizo. The Italian ravioli with truffle, enoki and a heavenly cheese sauce was also excellent. The little French chef served a tournedos with béarnaise, and the Japanese chef finished with an impressive kalamansi (a cross between a mandarin and the Chinese kumquat) dessert. Apart from the menu, you can order good wines for €7 per glass. The Primitivo from Italy is highly recommended—don’t skip it if you enjoy a delicious sun-ripened red wine.

Complimentary welcome drink
Le Petit Chef costs €119 per person and can be booked from Wednesday through Sunday at Brasserie De Roode Leeuw in Amsterdam (opposite the Bijenkorf), with dinner shows at 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. every evening.
