The 50 best restaurants in the world

The fifty best restaurants in the world have been announced again.

Massimo Bottura has pulled it off: his Osteria Francescana, known for, among other things, the Netflix series Chef’s Table and the iconic dish ‘Oops I dropped the lemon tart’, is the best restaurant in the world. With this achievement, Bottura has knocked the Roca brothers of ‘El Celler dan Can Roca’ off the throne into second place.

Eleven Madison Park in New York, owned by Daniel Humm and chef de cuisine Chris Flint, is in third place. In fourth place is Central, the restaurant of Virgilio Martinez and Pia Leon; you’ll have to travel to Lima in Peru for that one. René Redzepi’s Noma in Copenhagen is in fifth place.
Dutch chefs
Jonnie and Thérèse Boer secure 38th place this year with De Librije. Richard Ekkebus, also a Dutch chef, is in twentieth place with his restaurant ‘Amber’ in Hong Kong.
