The Avocado Emoji Is Here

Tech news for food geeks: Apple’s new iOS version seems to mark a temporary end to the torturous emoji shortage among foodies. The update comes with a truckload of new emojis, which make us, as 24/7 connected and somewhat childish gluttons, incredibly happy.

We’re talking pancakes, bacon strips, a croissant, a baguette and, to top it all off, the long-awaited avocado. Finally! We’ll toast with clinking champagne glasses or a glass of whisky, and the fit girls among us are also well catered for with the carrot, kiwi and cucumber. Many old emojis have also undergone a makeover: the beer mug is foaming better than ever, for example, and that bowl of ramen now looks much more appetizing.
