The best açaí bowl in Amsterdam

I was skeptical about the oh-so-popular açaí bowl for a long time. Fit girl hype, smoothie in a bowl, come on, but as soon as I had my first one, I was sold. Maybe that was also because I immediately found the best one in Amsterdam, because after that I was seriously disappointed again.

The first time I had one, I was lying in bed with a massive hangover. I wanted something healthier than the McDonald’s or pizza I normally order in that state, and grumpily pressed the order button. I ordered from Juice Brothers, and that was the best decision I’ve ever made.

Disappointed

The bowl – my least favourite word in the world – was so delicious that I immediately became a fan and told everyone who wanted to hear it (or not) about the happiness known as an açaí bowl. Little did I know that they’re far from all being that delicious! Like a mad person, ever since my revelation I’ve ordered the bowl everywhere, but I’m almost always disappointed.

Fresh

The great thing about a good version is that, besides being sweet, it’s also wonderfully fresh and sour, and of course ice-cold. Yet I keep coming across versions that are mainly sweet and sometimes even taste a little stale. Or they aren’t cold enough, which changes the entire texture. Annoying!
