The best airport for food

vliegveld

When I go on vacation, I always try to leave the airport as quickly as possible to find the truly delicious food in the city. But next time I fly to Tokyo, I might stick around for a while. After all, it has the best airport food in the world.

The American magazine Forbes conducted extensive research for us into which airport in the world has the best food. Tokyo emerged as the clear winner. You do have to fly to Narita rather than Haneda, though. It is slightly less central, but all the delicious food you can find there makes it more than worth it.

Best sushi ever

The airport gets the full five points for both price and quality. You can find the very best sushi, yakitori, noodles, tonkatsu and other Japanese classics there. I still remember buying a box of sushi at the airport in Tokyo from something like an AH to go, and it was genuinely a thousand times tastier than the sushi I eat in Dutch restaurants. So it doesn’t surprise me at all that the food here was voted the best airport food.

From ramen to tempura

The best restaurant at Narita according to Forbes? That would be Sushiden, where you can get sushi that is apparently out of this world. Not in the mood for sushi? Then head to Tentei for the airport’s best tempura, Menya Kuukai for a large bowl of ramen, or Tonkatsu Inama Wako for tender, deep-fried pork. Prefer something healthy? At Obon de Gohan, you can select your own meal with rice and miso soup. Have you booked your ticket yet?
