The best wine shop in Amsterdam

Great news for all wine lovers in Amsterdam-Oost and De Pijp: wine shop Ton Overmars has two brand-new locations near you. So now you can do all your alcoholic (Christmas) shopping there.

I wrote about my great love before for the wine shop on Hoofddorpplein. The staff always know how to recommend a good bottle for every dish. Now, that’s the case at most wine shops, but at Ton Overmars, that bottle is usually affordable too. At many shops, when you ask for advice, you’re immediately handed a €15 bottle, but at Ton they always ask about your budget or come up with an affordable bottle on their own. I’ve never come across a better price-quality ratio anywhere.

Michelin-starred restaurants

Calling it the best wine shop in Amsterdam is quite a statement, but I’m not alone in my opinion. Ton Overmars supplies an impressive list of Michelin-starred restaurants in and outside Amsterdam. There’s a good chance that if you’re served a delicious wine somewhere soon, Ton is the source. And now you no longer have to cycle all the way to Hoofddorpplein for a lovely bottle. Residents of Amsterdam-Oost can go to the Middenweg, and if you live in De Pijp, just cycle (or walk) over to the Rustenburgerstraat.

Christmas menu

Be sure to bring a list of your entire Christmas menu, from amuse-bouche to dessert. The staff will then select a lovely bottle for each course. Cheers!
