The pizza sneaker

Food accessories, we love them. And now we’ve found a few real gems that we simply have to tell you about.

FavorFlav’s Emma and Marieke would rather sit in their babi guling sweater at the office, while I’ve just discovered that we could have expanded our wardrobe with a pair of pizza sneakers.
Yes, really—these pepperoni trainers were sold on Tuesday. They’re from a collection created by sportswear brand Adidas in collaboration with women’s platform Refinery29. The line consists of fifty pairs of unique shoes, designed by eleven female designers. The proceeds were donated to Womenwin.org, an organization dedicated to advancing women’s rights worldwide through sports projects. That afternoon, the highest bid for the pizza shoes was already $528, according to Eater.
The line started with a pair of shoes specially designed as a tribute to the state of New Jersey, but by now every state is represented by a pair of sneakers. Some feature designs based on their nature or flag, but also on local food. All the shoes were sold on Tuesday, so unfortunately we can no longer get our hands on them.
So what’s next, Adidas? We secretly hope the Netherlands will get its own line too. Hollandsnieuwe for North Holland, perhaps? Vlaai for Limburg, Bossche bol for Brabant and Boterbabbelaar for Zeeland? We’re all for it. Until then, you can enjoy the American versions.
