The tastiest ice creams in Amsterdam

Fiiiiinally, the sun is shining. And for long and warmly enough that I’m finally going to believe it: the first ice cream of the year. And of course, I want to do that properly right away by visiting one of the city’s best ice cream parlors. Luckily, we have plenty of options in…

And I surely wasn’t the only one with this plan, so I’m happy to share my list of favorite ice creams in Amsterdam with you. Here they are.

1. Massimo Gelato
They have several locations around the city (in Oost, De Pijp, Zuid and West), so there’s a very good chance one is near you. This is one of my all-time favorites, especially the pistachio flavor.

2. Pisa IJs
Well, this one obviously couldn’t be missing from this list. A true classic, an institution, and according to many still the absolute tastiest in the city. Have you never tried it yourself? Get on that quickly.

3. Venetië IJs
I always feel like there are two camps: Team Pisa and Team Venetië. These two ice cream parlors are just a stone’s throw from each other and both have their devoted fans.

4. Fort Negen
Admittedly, this may not fit this list entirely… But the soft serve from Fort Negen in a croissant is so insanely delicious that it has to be included. Seriously; you have to try this at least once.

5. Jan Pieter IJsje
No matter how old I get, these ice creams remain fun. They have some very unusual flavors, their cones are decorated with anything you can imagine, and they’re genuinely delicious too. Highly recommended.

6. Van der Linde
Delicious in all its simplicity; sometimes an ice cream just doesn’t need too much fuss, and they’ve understood that perfectly here. They’ve been selling ice cream here since 1937, and in summer it’s a regular stop for many people while shopping in the city center.

7. IJs van Oost
Instant decision paralysis when I stand in front of the gigantic display case here; they have so many delicious flavors. Bonus: you can also sit outside on the street side.
