The tastiest sausage rolls in Brabant
This week, Brabant held the most important election of the year: The Tastiest Brabant Sausage Roll 2019. Baker Lars van Dongen from Wagenberg went home with first prize. His shiny beauties were, by far, judged to be the tastiest.
”Good ingredients, a nice piece of minced meat, plenty of practice and doing everything with a lot of love,” Lars van Dongen says about his winning sausage roll. His bakery enters the competition every year. Last year, his brother came second. They always start preparing and tasting the sausage rolls for the competition six months in advance.
From the top and bottom
86 Brabant bakers took part in the competition. The sausage rolls were judged on their appearance from both the top and bottom, the minced-meat filling, the bread, the consistency and bite, and, of course, the overall taste.
