These are the 100 best terraces throughout the Netherlands
Every year, hospitality trade magazine Misset Horeca searches for the 100 best terraces in the Netherlands. And notably: last year, the De Veranda terrace on the edge of Amsterdamse Bos was named the winner, while this year there are only 2 Amsterdam terraces on the list.
It is already the fifteenth edition of Misset Horeca’s Terras Top 100. The jury did not make its decision overnight, but compiled a delicious Terras Top 100 2023 list after three rounds of jury visits across 12 provinces.
Best terrace in the Netherlands in 2023
For the best terrace in the Netherlands, you have to go to Pelle’s in Deurningen (Overijssel) — last year they came in second place, and now they are taking home the trophy. The jury was unanimous in its verdict: this is the best terrace in the Netherlands in 2023. Why is Pelle’s such a success? ‘We were welcomed hospitably, served professionally and ultimately warmly thanked for our visit. Once we got home, we felt that above all, we wanted to return to Pelle’s’, said the jury, which was visibly impressed. ‘The terrace, with its many beautiful, varied seating areas, has room for more than a hundred guests. All the more impressive that the level of service is so high and consistent.’
Ameland and Zwolle
The location, the hospitality, the enjoyment shown by the owners; second place in the Terras Top 100 went to Hotel Nobel in Ballum (Ameland). ‘The inviting terrace offers various seating options, from large lounge sofas to comfortable chairs beneath the canopy. Sunscreen is handed out and after your meal you receive a tube of hand sanitiser.’ Here too, the jury was incredibly enthusiastic.
In third place was the botanical terrace of Het Wijnhuis in Zwolle city centre. The beautiful collection of flowers and plants spread across and hanging over the entire terrace, the French atmosphere, the passion, warmth and hospitality; according to the election jury, this terrace is uniquely unrivalled.
