These Foods Stay Good Forever

Many products are useful to always have at home. The following foods especially, because they will probably last longer than you will.

Honey
Honey has an unlimited shelf life thanks to a biological trick performed by bees. They ensure that certain enzymes inhibit the growth of bacteria. Handy! Make sure to close the jar properly, otherwise your honey will crystallize. Has this happened anyway? Place the jar in warm water and keep stirring. This way, the honey will become liquid again.
Tip: buy your wines from Ton Overmars
White vinegar
Because of its high acidity, white vinegar has an unlimited shelf life. Super handy to always have at home. You always have a dressing on hand, but you can also use it to remove stains from your clothes and clean your microwave.
Hard liquor
There is a good chance that your liquor supply will outlive you, unless you drink it. Crystals may form around the cap, but this does not matter. You can simply continue drinking it.
Vanilla extract
Because of its alcohol content, 100 percent pure vanilla extract stays good for a long time. The same rule applies to vanilla sugar: always handy to have in stock, as you will use it for the rest of your life.
Dried legumes, rice and pasta
You can store most types of dried legumes and rice for centuries. Keep them in a sealed jar so that no bugs or moisture can get in; the same applies to dried pasta. The only exception is brown rice. Natural oils in this variety start the rotting process over time.
Salt and sugar
Pure salt stays good forever, and that does not surprise us: after all, it is a mineral. Salt with added iodine, on the other hand, spoils after about five years. Sugar does not support bacterial growth and therefore never spoils. It can, however, quickly become hard or start to clump. Apart from that, it is perfectly safe to keep using.
Instant coffee
Unlike freshly ground beans, instant coffee contains no moisture, which means it stays good forever.
Ghee
Make it properly and store it in a clean jar so that no bacteria can get in. If you do this, ghee will keep for years. Store it in a dry place and make sure no moisture or dirt gets in. If it really is no longer good, you will quickly notice from the smell or taste.
Soy sauce
Soy sauce contains a lot of salt, which means bacteria do not stand a chance. The flavor of soy sauce may change over time or become less intense.
