This restaurant recycles nachos and salsa

A Mexican restaurant has done something we absolutely hate: re-serving food that has already been served.

A former employee of Su Casa Mexican restaurant in South Haven has come clean. He says he was required to serve leftover salsa and chips to guests again.

The restaurant’s owner – Edgar Suarez – admitted to being guilty of this food crime. Suarez says he did not know that this practice was rather unhygienic.

According to sources, re-serving used chips is the norm in many Mexican restaurants, according to the Munchies article.  Anthony Bourdain also writes in his book Kitchen Confidential that reusing food is common practice throughout the food business. As far as he is concerned, it is neither a problem nor a surprise. In any case, we are not fans of the idea that someone has already double-dipped in our salsa.
