To barbecue or not to barbecue in Vondelpark?

Will barbecuing be allowed in Vondelpark this summer or not? Opinions are divided.

The Friends of Vondelpark Association is calling for a ban because people barbecuing cause nuisance, litter and unpleasant smells. Rules have been in place since 2011, and they have already been amended several times. The Municipality of Amsterdam does not support a ban. For now, three areas in the park have been designated where you may grill: two near the Picasso Meadow and one by the statue of Vondel.

Home-delivered meals from The New York Times

The New York Times is going to deliver more than just paper newspapers. You can now also order food through the ‘mail-kit-delivery bandwagon’. Recipes from NYT Cooking are being offered, and with an order you receive everything you need at home. The archive contains no fewer than seventeen thousand recipes. The newspaper is expanding in collaboration with the start-up Chef’d.

BBQ Contest FG Food Labs

This summer, François Geurds is searching for barbecue talent for the third time. FG Food Labs is organizing the BBQ Contest for advanced participants on 28 August. Anyone willing to take on the challenge of impressing top chefs and culinary journalists can register by sending an email to info@fgfoodlabs.nl. You enter as a pair, and for 50 euros per person you are required to bring at least ten supporters. They may eat whatever comes off the grill. What can you win? A Big Green Egg.
