Too beautiful to eat: this Japanese food artist creates little stories on a plate
It’s no secret that many Japanese mothers get up an hour early to make the most artistic lunchboxes for their children. But they are certainly not the only ones. In Japan, there is an entire movement of food artists: kyaraben.
On Instagram, you’ll find the most beautiful works of art, including those by @boc_metal, a food artist from Osaka. From rice to courgette and Japanese omelette, this man transforms it all into cute, funny, incredibly detailed works of art.
Kyaraben originated as a fun way to get picky children to eat (healthily) after all. But thanks to social media, it quickly took off, and a fully fledged art subgenre emerged, with hundreds of thousands of followers all over the world. And when we see these photos, we understand why.
