We’re Taking a Tour of Paris

A few weeks ago, you could book train tickets to Paris very cheaply, so the entire editorial team did just that. What to do? Lots of eating and drinking, of course.

Éclairs

Crazy about the elongated choux pastry treats filled with crème and cream? Then be sure to visit L’Eclair de Genie. Everything they sell here has a high ‘must eat this now’ factor. Besides the classics, they have varieties with passion fruit and raspberry, or nut cream with coconut. We’d happily have them all, because choosing is difficult here.

Cheese

Got a sweet tooth satisfied? Then walk on to Laurent Dubois’s cheese paradise. Here you’ll find only the very best raw-milk cheeses, such as Coussin crémeux and Delice de Bourgogne. You can even order a cheese cake made up of several layers of cheese.

Open Monday to Sunday from 9:00 to 20:00; on Sundays they close at 13:00.

Stardust

Want to enjoy an elaborate, star-level dinner? Then go ‘au resto’ at David Toutain. You’ll eat modern French dishes in a contemporary and stylish setting. Bring your piggy bank, because the price per cover is between sixty and one hundred euros. And make a reservation a few weeks in advance, otherwise there’s a very good chance there won’t be a table available.

Open Monday through Friday for lunch and dinner.

Coffee

For a cup of quality coffee and lunch, head to Lomi. Coffee is taken seriously here, and the bearded, tattooed men are poster boys for hipster coffee culture. Besides coffee, they sell the best brownies, cakes and tartines. So even if you’re not a coffee fan, you’ll be in good hands here.

Bistro

From Japanese to Afghan, you can eat absolutely anything in this cosmopolitan city. But for the ultimate French feeling, go to Café Charlot. From the chairs and tables to the people who come here, everything says Vive la France. Eat the thin French fries and have a glass of wine with them.

Wine

Le Baron Rouge is a wine bar frequented by the entire neighborhood. Especially on Sunday afternoons, people eat plenty of oysters here with wine drawn straight from the barrel. They also have cheese boards and charcuterie, so you’ll be happily settled here for quite some time.
