Where you can do pub quizzes and enjoy great food
Which seas are connected by the Suez Canal? What was Destiny’s Child’s first hit? And what color is a polar bear’s skin? Almost every day, you can take part in a pub quiz somewhere in Amsterdam. But which ones also serve good food? Because hey: thinking (and winning) on an empty stomach just isn’t going to happen.
Amsterdam City Centre
In the mood for a tropical bite and an equally tropical quiz? Then Waterkant is the place for you.
When? Every Monday, 8:30 p.m.
What is there to drink? Parbo beer, Fernandes, cocktails and markoesa juice.
What is there to eat? Peanut soup, banana burgers, moksi meti and bata batjauw.
What can you win? A bottle of bubbly, and all drinks and snacks on your bill that evening are on the house. Note: this applies to the snacks you ordered between 8:30 and 11:00 p.m., not your entire dinner.

Amsterdam West
Do you have broad general knowledge and feel like enjoying an equally diverse menu? Take part in a quiz at Bar Baarsch.
When? Every Monday, 8:30 p.m.
What is there to drink? Specialty beer, wine and gin and tonics.
What is there to eat? Poussin in a Coca-Cola marinade, pumpkin cooked in chamomile.
What can you win? The quiz winners do not have to pay their drinks bill.
What are the rules? Participation costs €2.50 per person, and teams may have a maximum of five participants. To improve your chances of getting a good table, making a reservation is recommended.
Not only game lovers are catered to at TonTon Club’s Puck; if you’re a fan of Asian cuisine, you’ll have a great time here too.
When? Every Thursday, 8:00 p.m.
What is there to drink? (Asian) beer and Japanese cocktails, such as the Japanese Garden with whiskey, melon, ginger ale and lime.
What is there to eat? Sliders with soft-shell crab, baos with rendang and mantao buns with duck and orange. For cheaters, there is the ‘cheat day’: a Wagyu burger on a pretzel bun.
What can you win? At the end of the quiz night, the winner may tear up their drinks bill.
What are the rules? Participation is free, and teams may have a minimum of three and a maximum of five participants. You need to sign up in advance via puckquiz@depuck.nl
Not to be confused with Café Gollem in De Pijp, where a pub quiz has been organized every Tuesday for years, Gollem’s Proeflokaal is a place where you can enjoy beer and pub quizzes as well as food.
When? Every Monday, 8:30 p.m.
What is there to drink? 22 specialty beers on tap and more than 150 bottled beers. From Belgian classics to a homemade radler.
What is there to eat? Bone-in steak, Trappist cheese fondue and Flemish stew; there is also a daily special for €10.
What can you win? A round of beers on the house, or you can come back the following week and receive a complimentary dinner.
What are the rules? Participation is free. Teams may have a maximum of six participants; make a reservation if you are coming for dinner.

Looking for an ‘eetcafé plus’? Then Maxwell is the place for you, both for the pub quiz and the food.
When? Every Monday, 8:45 p.m.
What is there to drink? Amsterdam beer, Mokum Mule and Espresso Martini.
What is there to eat? Satay, burgers, cheese fondue and mussels.
What can you win? The drinks you have from the beginning to the end of the quiz. And if you then qualify for the final, there is much more to win.

Café Kuijper
Short on cash? At Café Kuijper you can get Donnie’s daily special for ten euros.
When? Every Tuesday, 8:30 p.m.
What is there to drink? Amsterdam beer by the bottle, G&T’s, wine and Bionade.
What is there to eat? Besides Donnie’s daily special, you can also get excellent flammkuchen, fries with rendang, an Amsterdam platter or the famous Kuijper nachos (small, medium or large).
What can you win? The drinks consumed during the quiz.
