World AeroPress Championship in Dublin

Edward Beumer from Trakteren koffie in Amsterdam won the Dutch AeroPress Championship at the end of March, beating 26 other participants. On June 23, the time has come and he will compete alongside fifty others in the World AeroPress Championship in Dublin.

Beumer has been a barista for years, and the AeroPress is one of his great loves. The AeroPress is a small plastic device costing less than forty euros that you can use to make good slow-brew coffee. You can see exactly how that works here.

Competitions

For several years now, there have also been competitions all over the world to determine who makes the best AeroPress coffee. A jury then decides which brewer makes the perfectly balanced cup of coffee. It should not be too sour or bitter and should above all stand out for its sweetness.

The search for the perfect coffee is a matter of trial and error

Of course, we can all make a cup of coffee, but if you really want to do it well, it takes many years of practice. Beumer was sent a batch of coffee in advance for the World Championship that he can use to practise. You can make about eight cups of coffee with it to arrive at the perfect recipe.

According to champion Edward, you work like a kind of coffee DJ, lining up all the flavours so that you get the best presentation of the coffee. We do not yet know whether Edward will manage to make the best cup of coffee, but FavorFlav wishes him success today.
