5x baking with breakfast cereals

Cornflakes, puffed rice, honey hoops: you can dunk them in milk, stir them into yoghurt or pop a handful in your mouth as a snack. But you can also bake with them. Go all out with these five ultra-sweet recipes.

Milk cake with cornflakes
The milk powder makes this cake taste even more like milk than the average cake. Combined with the crushed corn- or chocolate flakes on top, it will remind you of that breakfast bowl from years ago.
Honey hoop bar
With dried cranberries, roasted peanuts, a drizzle of honey and plenty of peanut butter, you put these cereal bars together yourself. Oh, and don’t forget the Cheerios. No baking is required, so they’re ready in no time. This sticky, firm bar is perfect for breakfast or as a snack.
Puffed rice treat
You make it with butter, marshmallow and white chocolate. Melt those three ingredients and stir in enough puffed rice. The result: a sticky mixture that can take all kinds of shapes. Sweet crispy rice sushi, for example. Don’t feel like making a big effort? Pour it into a baking dish and sprinkle it with sprinkles and even more melted white chocolate.
Granola ice pops
With this recipe, you transform a simple bowl of yoghurt with granola into a grab-and-go breakfast on a stick. You make it with Greek yoghurt, strawberries, milk, honey and granola. Don’t worry: it stays crunchy.
Puffed wheat brownie
Unlike a regular brownie, this treat is crunchy, sticky and satisfyingly firm. You can make it quickly with puffed wheat, syrup, brown sugar and plenty of dark chocolate.
