All you have to do is roast the hazelnuts and melt the chocolate; for the rest, simply put everything in the blender and blend until a silky-smooth chocolate spread forms. What are you going to spread it on?

How to make the chocolate spread

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C. Arrange the hazelnuts in a single layer on a baking sheet and roast them for approx. 12 minutes, until lightly colored and the skins begin to loosen here and there.
  • Wrap the hazelnuts in a clean tea towel and rub firmly until all the skins come off the nuts. Leave to cool.
  • Melt the chocolate au bain-marie and leave to cool.
  • Put the hazelnuts in a food processor and grind until you have a paste. Add the oil, sugar, cocoa, vanilla and salt, and continue grinding until smooth.
  • Add the melted chocolate and mix well.
  • Pass through a sieve to remove any pieces of hazelnut. The spread should now be fairly thin, but as it cools further, it will become thicker.
