Who are the top contenders for Michelin 2019?

Just one more weekend of nail-biting and then it’s time for the annual presentation of the Michelin Guide at the DeLaMar Theatre. Who do you think will get a star? Or perhaps lose one?

Monday, 17 December is the big day: the presentation of the Michelin Guide. Last year, the world of top restaurants was turned upside down. Inter Scaldes joined the ranks of three-Michelin-star restaurants, alongside De Librije and De Leest. Will it be another circus this year?
Olivijn Haarlem
Menno Post and his restaurant Olivijn in Haarlem have been mentioned by several experts as contenders for a star. It makes some sense: the man was head chef at two-star restaurant de Bokkedoorns for years before opening Olivijn.
Sabero Roermond
Former two-star chef Nico Boreas opened restaurant Sabero in Roermond with his wife at the beginning of this year. In the summer of 2016, they closed their restaurant Boreas in Heeze. Will they win a star with their new success?
Tribeca Heeze
The next step for restaurant Boreas: it was taken over by Jan Sobecki, former head chef of Chapeau! in Bloemendaal. He renamed it Tribeca and secured two Michelin stars within four months. Will the third be added this year?
212 Amsterdam
Restaurant 212 by Richard van Oostenbrugge and Thomas Groot is also highly likely to be on Michelin’s radar. It’s small-scale, and you can eat there exclusively at the bar. Yet they certainly don’t serve standard bar food here—will they manage to secure a star?
Ciel Bleu Amsterdam
Last but not least: Ciel Bleu at the Okura Hotel in Amsterdam. Chef Onno Kokmeijer received his first Michelin star in 2005, and his second in 2008. Could this be the year for that third star?
