Thirsty tales

Pumpkin spice martini

martinis

The ‘r’ is back in the month, which means taking extra vitamins but also buying everything pumpkin spice wherever you go. Not in the mood for yet another pumpkin spice latte (PSL to insiders), but fancy something stronger? Then try the pumpkin spice martini.

Shaken, not stirred

You make an original martini by combining gin or vodka (two parts) with vermouth (one part) and pouring it into an ice-filled glass. An olive on the side?

To turn it into a pumpkin spice martini, you only use the vodka, but one with a vanilla flavor. You also add Baileys and a pumpkin liqueur. To finish it off, use cinnamon and nutmeg for that unmistakable autumnal touch.

Cold, colder, coldest

Even though it is autumn and you probably already feel cold enough, for this martini it really is a case of ‘the colder, the better’. Of course, you fill the glass with ice, but it is even better if the glass itself has spent some time in the freezer (not too long, of course), and if you shake the ice for long enough that the outside of your cocktail shaker is ice-cold too.
