Healthy Snack Wall

Goodbye grill burger, croquette and cheese soufflé; hello beetroot burger and chickpea curry. At the end of August, a paradise for the Rens Kroes and Green Happiness girls of this world will open: the country’s first healthy snack wall.

The ‘Health Food Wall’ is opening in—where else?—Amsterdam. More precisely, at Kinkerstraat 66a.

The wall contains six different meals: two salads and four substantial meals, all vegetarian, often also vegan, with gluten-free options too. Founder and vegetarian chef Anouk Snelders came up with all the meals herself and tested them on friends and family.

Cold

Spending hours in a wall rarely does food any good, but Snelders has thought of something: unlike Febo, this wall blows cold rather than hot air. So you don’t have to worry about brown-edged, lukewarm lettuce. Do note: not only the salads, but the meals also come out of the wall cold. But if we are to believe Snelders, that doesn’t detract from the taste.

Diagonal

The prices are a little higher than your favorite Febo snacks: between seven and nine euros (contactless payment). But hey, you do get a complete meal, so it saves you a diagonal (for those who don’t know what that is: pulling all the Febo snacks out of the wall in a diagonal line).

Cake

Would you rather sit quietly at a table for a while? No problem, because the snack wall is part of a lunchroom where you can settle in with your laptop (freelancers, take note!) and enjoy coconuts, smoothies and vegan cake.
