The cheapest Michelin-starred restaurants
Dining at a Michelin-starred restaurant may sound like it’s only for the wealthy among us, but nothing could be further from the truth. Even if you’re broke, you can enjoy it. Well… if you save some money for a ticket.
Travel website Traveloka has compiled a list of the fifty cheapest Michelin-starred restaurants in the world. It ranked the restaurants according to the price of the most expensive main course on the à-la-carte menu, or the price of the set lunch menu.
The Netherlands
And what do you know? You can find two of the cheapest menus in the Netherlands! Strandlodge in Winterswijk ranks number 28 with a two-course lunch menu costing €27.50, while Sinne in Amsterdam ranks number 39 with its three-course menu costing €39.
Cheapest in the world
For the cheapest Michelin-starred joint, you’ll have to travel quite a distance: it’s Liao Fan Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice & Noodle, a famous street-food stall in Singapore, where they sell simple dishes such as barbecue pork, chicken with rice and wonton soup, for which you’ll spend a maximum of €1.90 on a main course. Say whaaaat?!
It’s not very surprising, but you’ll find the cheapest Michelin-starred restaurants in Asia: in second place are Tim Ho Wan (Hong Kong), Hamo (Seoul), Chugokusai S.Sawada (Osaka) and Jay Fai (Bangkok).
Cheapest in Europe
Would you rather stay closer to home? The cheapest European restaurant on the list is L’Antic Moli in El Castell, Spain, where the lunch menu costs 15 euros.
