A magical cake

You make this custard cake with one batter, but the end result consists of three completely different layers: a firm bottom, a light middle and a crispy top.

It can probably be scientifically explained quite well, but we still think it’s pretty magical. The bottom has a texture similar to fudge, the middle resembles custard and the crispy top is like sponge cake. This is because the cake is baked at a low temperature of approximately 140 °C for an hour.
And the taste? According to the creators of this recipe, it’s definitely not too sweet —and we like that. We know what we’re making this Christmas.
