The ultimate deserted-island snacks for Expeditie Robinson

The finale of Expeditie Robinson is approaching, and it’s getting more and more exciting. Of course, you watch every episode with your friends, while enjoying snacks—because, yes, you are allowed to go to the supermarket. With these Robinson-worthy recipes, you’ll lure everyone to your viewing party.

The contestants have to make do with a limited supply of bananas, coconut, cassava and sea urchin. To get completely into the spirit during the episode, you’ll survive along with them. In a slightly tastier way, that is.
Cassava chips
Every year, the Robinson contestants get through plenty of cassava. Making cassava chips is very easy. It’s simply a matter of peeling, slicing and frying. Of course, you can also buy them in a bag at the supermarket, but fresh is always tastier.
Plantain and cassava fries
This is somewhat similar to the previous recipe. It’s just a lot healthier. By baking the fries in the oven instead of deep-frying them, they contain less fat—but are certainly no less delicious. You do need to boil the cassava fries briefly before they go into the oven.
Baka bana with peanut sauce
Baka bana, yes. With peanut sauce, yes yes yes. The contestants may not have had peanut sauce on the island, but that doesn’t matter—we can enjoy it.
Rens Kroes’s coconut chocolate balls
Of course, you also need to take your health-conscious guests into account. Luckily, Rens Kroes comes to the rescue with her chocolate balls made with dates, nuts, cacao, chia seeds and desiccated coconut. Coconut and nearly starving yourself, how much more Robinson could it get?
Sea urchin mayonnaise
This recipe will definitely be the star of your party. You make the mayo for your bruschetta with scallop, capers and garlic. Are you thinking: come on, leave me alone, I just want an easy snack? The mayo (just follow the first step) is also perfect with number two on this list: cassava fries. A recipe for true die-hard Expeditie fans.
