Classics at an Easter brunch, such as deviled eggs, are always a hit. In fact, as far as we’re concerned, EVERYTHING with eggs is good at Easter. And of course, scones and hot cross buns are also essential at an Easter brunch.

The tastiest dishes for Easter brunch

Scones
Naturally, generously spread with clotted cream and jam. There are millions of variations with fruit, nuts or whatever you like. But we always come back to the classic version. Really no time? A good pastry shop or bakery sells them too.

Spicy poached pear
Give the standard poached pear an extra kick with a pinch of chili flakes. Put 1 kilo of poaching pears in a pan with a glass of red wine, a little sugar, lemon zest, cinnamon and enough water to cover them. Then add the chili flakes, preferably ones without seeds. Let everything simmer gently for about an hour, until the pears are soft. Leave the stem and the little top cap of the skin on. It looks nice and, when you take them out of the pan like this, the whole pear won’t fall apart.

Muffins
For us, Easter is a wonderful excuse to have muffins for breakfast. With this simple trick, you can make the lightest muffins. These moist muffins with apple and cinnamon are a favorite. They’re easy to make a day in advance, and on Easter all you have to do is put them in your bag.

Quiche
Easy to take with you and filling enough for a table full of hungry people. Pull out all the stops with an amazing Quiche Flamande by top chef Joris Bijdendijk, or go to the other end of the culinary spectrum and make a frikandel quiche. Guaranteed success!

gravlax

Gravlax
Cure a large piece of salmon in salt, sugar and dill. Then do nothing for 24 hours and you’ll have a beautiful cured piece of salmon. Put it on the table whole and slice it there—spectacle guaranteed.

Potato salad
And not overcooked potatoes with dollops of sweet mayonnaise. Instead, make a fresh version with vinaigrette and plenty of herbs. Bring the eggs peeled and cut them in half when you get there.

Deviled eggs
Always a success at any party, and Easter is no exception. For example, make deviled eggs with truffle mayonnaise and truffle egg salad. Bet the platter will be empty in no time?

Tomato salad
The roasted lemon in this salad adds a bitter, fresh flavor that pairs perfectly with the sweet tomatoes. Add pomegranate seeds and fresh herbs, and you’re done.

Bonus: hot cross buns
These typically American Easter rolls are airy, lightly sweetened and spiced with cinnamon, among other things. They’re incredibly delicious and also look fabulous among the Easter spread. Because they’re so quintessentially Easter, we’re also sharing a recipe for hot cross buns with you. Maybe they take a little more work, but they’re absolutely worth it!
