What would you do with 10,000 kcal?

What would you eat if you had 10,000 calories to spend every day? While I dream of unlimited amounts of roast chicken, pancakes, gnocchi, gado gado, falafel, roasted eggplant, bulgogi, mantı and and and… – okay, I’ll stop because this list is endless – things are just a little different for these bodybuilders.

A kilo of meat

Bodybuilder, actor and ‘natural giant’ (2 metres 18!) Olivier Richters said on Laat op één that he eats 6,400 calories a day to maintain his imposing physique (155 kg). “That is divided over seven meals, the last of which is at three in the morning. Just before going to bed, I drink a lot of water so that I deliberately wake up at three in the morning and can eat once more.” That food consists of half a kilo of quark, twelve eggs and at least a kilo of meat per day.

Chicken shake

Extreme? Then you definitely haven’t heard of Rene Campbell yet. A few years ago, Munchies made a video about her in which she explains and shows how she gets her required 5,000 calories a day: with a chicken shake. I kid you not. The recipe? 130 grams of cooked chicken, 130 grams of cooked rice, 50 grams of cooked cabbage, raw egg white and water, throw it all in the blender and blend away! The taste? ‘It tastes like chickensoup gone a bit wrong,’ according to Rene. Oh well, luckily she drinks it only three times a day.

20K cheat day

All of this pales in comparison to bodybuilder Juan Morel’s diet of more than 10,000 calories. I have to say, at first glance his diet sounds a lot more appetising than Rene’s chicken-shake diet. Pancakes, hamburgers, fries, pizza, bacon, cake and ice cream. Juan clearly isn’t afraid of carbs and a little fat. Although, ‘a little?’ The quantities this man puts away are unheard of. And that’s an ordinary day!

We haven’t even mentioned his famous ’20K cheat day’ yet: breakfast consisting of two boxes of cereal, a quick snack of a frappuccino and avocado toast, eggs, pancakes with Nutella, lunch with multiple burgers and fries, then ice cream with extra brownies and Oreos and, well, why not, a few pizzas too. This takes its toll on Juan as well, by the way: ‘I needed a day to recover from this madness,’ he says in his vlog. Wow.
